Graham Mitchell

Senior Development & Asset Manager, McAleer & Rushe

Graham graduated from the University of Ulster with a BSc (Hons) Estate Management including DIS in June 1999, immediately joining the Agency Department of Lisney, one of Northern Irelands leading Chartered Surveying practices.  Following this he joined Lidl GmbH as Property Manager, looking after store acquisitions, planning, development and management within the Northern Ireland region and latterly in the Dublin & Cork regions.

Based in the London office, Graham joined the Property Department of the McAleer & Rushe Group in September 2004 and works on the full spectrum of property activities from site identification and acquisition (including site assembly), due diligence, commercially viable design, planning, development funding, project management, marketing and disposal through letting and sales together with ongoing asset management as required across a multi sector asset base.

Graham maintains a focus on hotel and student development, undertaken throughout the United Kingdom and Ireland.  He maintains close contact with many major brands, owners, investors, funders and operators in the sectors.  Key achievements and activities with McAleer & Rushe include:

• Site identification and acquisitions of over £100m throughout the UK & Ireland
• Overseeing detailed design and commercial viability of market specific schemes throughout the UK & Ireland
• Advisory role for construction Clients on design, viability and funding matters
• Secured planning permissions for in excess of 4m sq ft of mixed use developments with a 100% success rate
• Development management of over 2m sq ft of mixed use developments throughout the UK with a GDV in excess of £0.5bn

Graham has contributed towards the company’s successful completion of more than 20,000 hotel bedrooms for numerous branded operators.  He has been instrumental in positioning McAleer & Rushe as a lead participant in the student accommodation sector in the UK, ensuring the company is on target to contract in excess of 7,500 rooms within 5 years of entering the sector.  He is currently working with investors, operators and funders to bring forward hotel and student accommodation development across the existing McAleer & Rushe land bank, together with securing new site acquisitions and JV opportunities throughout the UK & Ireland.
