Helen Loughborough

Vice President Global Safety, InterContinental Hotels Group

Prior to joining IHG, Helen served as an Intelligence Officer with the British Army for 28 years; her service was recognised by the award of an MBE which was presented at Buckingham Palace. During her military career, Helen also worked alongside the British Security and Intelligence Services to deliver the national capability.  After concluding her Army career as a Major, Helen ran her own Security and Risk Management company securing contracts in Europe, the Middle East and Asia Pacific.  During this time, Helen’s company delivered Security and Counter Terrorism advice to IHG’s hotels and corporate offices. Since December 2011, Helen has been employed by IHG as the VP Global Safety working with the global Heads of Security, Fraud Risk Management, Corporate Risk, Risk Training & Development, and Risk Financing to keep the business safe across a spectrum of specified and emerging risks.  She led IHG’s Olympic Safety and Security piece for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games which was praised by the London Olympic Games Organising Committee, London’s Metropolitan Police and Key Olympic sponsors.  Helen established the Safe Hotel Group in 2013 to execute global Safety Strategy and to ensure that IHG maintains a consistent approach to global Safety issues and crises.
