Matthieu Evrard

Chief Development Officer
Louvre Hotels Group

After cutting his teeth in the budget hotel sector at B&B, Matthieu Evrard joined Louvre Hotels Group in 2007, and for the past five years he has been heading the Group’s growth in France and abroad. At 30, this smiling, dynamic graduate from the Ecole Centrale in Paris also holds a DESS post-graduate diploma in Hotel Tourism Strategy from the Sorbonne, which was instrumental in his catching the hotel industry bug; this led him to take part in the acquisition and integration of Golden Tulip, which currently boasts 250 hotels and is driving Louvre Hotels Group’s worldwide growth.

He also supervises the Engineering department, renovation projects and the construction of hotels. “My department is global in that it covers the entire cycle and building management in a hotel portfolio,” explains Matthieu Evrard, who built up an asset management department to manage and reposition hotels of every brand in the mid or long term. “I have to manage the portfolio dynamically, which can lead to actually selling off.”

So in 2013, his teams completed 80 hotel openings, renovated about 50 and sold off as many. Never one to be short on ideas, he also heads Byron Gestion, a subsidiary devoted to private individuals looking to invest in the hotel sector.

A member of the Executive Committee since 2011, Matthieu Evrard has much to say regarding which areas to grow in and which not to, with Europe listed as a priority on his roadmap so as to increase the Group’s market share there.

While he is regularly called upon to criss-cross the planet in the course of his work, he still is fond of occasionally setting down his suitcases in France to enjoy a family holiday with his wife and young children. It is also an opportunity for him to take the high ground so he can indulge in his highly airborne hobbies: hot-air ballooning, hang-gliding, and his latest fad, powered paragliding!
