Director of Enterprise Business Architecture
Bill Frizzell is a Business Strategy Architect with the Enterprise Strategy IMPACT team in Microsoft Services. As part of the Enterprise Strategy & Architecture Group, Bill is responsible for aligning business needs and value with a customer’s IT investment, working closely with EPG and the Microsoft Sales teams globally. In this capacity, Bill operates as an Enterprise Architect, focusing on the business side of the equation, with specialties across multiple industries, including Retail, Hospitality, Public Sector, Consumer Goods and Wholesale Distribution. Bill works to accelerate customer initiatives, uncover additional initiatives in support of our Customer’s business needs, and promote Technologies into the business of the Customer, ideally operating as a trusted advisor for the Customers, helping them get the best business value from their Microsoft investments.
Prior to joining the Microsoft Services IMPACT team, Bill worked in the Enterprise Platform Group (EPG) Commercial Sector Headquarters, as the CTO & Industry Technology Strategist for the Hospitality team. Bill was in role since the inception of the Hospitality team in August of 2006. In this role, Bill was responsible for defining and developing a technical architecture vision and long term technology roadmap for the Hospitality industry; essentially shaping Microsoft's technical strategy in the Accommodation, Gaming, and Entertainment and Food Services segments.
Bill’s focus was on analyzing Hospitality architectures, partner solutions, standards trends, competitive landscape, and customer feedback to develop a comprehensive strategy to capitalize on identified opportunities, and understanding the strategic MS product roadmap and how it applied to Hospitality. Bill was also responsible for understanding a complex variety of business problems in Hospitality and defining their technical solutions and architecture. Bill’s role also encompassed evangelizing the Microsoft Hospitality Industry strategy and solution messages, in order to complement WW sales & services efforts, and was viewed as the most senior and knowledgeable speaker on MSFT's Hospitality solution architecture.
Prior to this role, Bill has served in various positions within the Retail & Hospitality Industry, as a Solution Sales Specialist (SSPi) on the Store Systems team, and as the Account Technology Specialist (ATS) for the East Retail region, focused on accounts in Pennsylvania.
Prior to Microsoft, Bill spent most of his career at ERIM and Booz Allen & Hamilton on their National Security Teams, performing Strategic Planning and as the Senior Scientist for the Imagery Analysis Division for the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) and the National Imagery and Mapping Agency (NIMA) from 1986-1999. From there, Bill worked as an independent Trainer for IT Certifications, holding fourteen premium certifications, including MCSE, MCSD, MCAD, MCDBA, MCT, Oracle OCP, and Chauncey CTT. Bill served as the CIO for Advanced Computer Technology Training, headquartered in Charlotte, NC for two years. From there, Bill contracted to the U.S. Department of Labor in Washington, DC; where he was the lead Architect for the Department’s Active Directory implementation, and standardization on the .NET platform for their intranet and extranet offerings. While working for e.magination (a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner), Bill worked on the architecture and implementation for the B2C site for Mason shoes, which managed nine different brands, consolidating e-commerce sales on the back end into a single enterprise repository for supply chain, logistics, and distribution. In the Entertainment industry, Bill has served as the Security Director for Six Flags Amusement Park in the Metro DC area, and at Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, VA in the Live Entertainment department.
Bill resides in Apopka, FL (just outside of Orlando), with his wife Christine, their sons, William III and Charles (13 & 11). In his spare time, Bill enjoys jumping out of perfectly watertight boats to Scuba Dive.
