Jochen Schaefer-Suren

Jochen has 25 years of experience in hotel and leisure fund management, investment banking, mergers & acquisitions, hotel financing, development and operations from senior positions at Invesco, the investment bank Lazard as well as the hotel groups Meridien, Hilton and Trusthouse Forte in New York, Paris and London. During his career he managed over €3.5 billion of hotel and leisure transactions in Europe, North America and Asia.

During his 10 years at Invesco Real Estate he built the hotel and leisure sector from ground up and from its inception in 2005 until now was the fund manager responsible for Invesco’s first ever European hotel real estate fund. In this role he designed the fund’s strategy in 2005, raised €350m equity capital and closed it in 2006. Since then he was responsible for the acquisitions, asset and fund management of a diversified portfolio of 16 hotels worth nearly €700m across Europe. Under his management this fund was one of the few successful dedicated hotel funds hitting target dividend returns every year since 2007 whilst achieving a stable NAV.  At Invesco Jochen was also responsible till 2009 for a €300m separate account for the hotel sector from the Generali insurance group. During this time Jochen built, trained and directed Invesco’s hotel specialist team to ensure the success of Invesco’s first hotel fund and built this specialist sector into a significant business at Invesco.
