CEO, Best Western Italia
Giovanna Manzi was born in 1967.
She grew up in Assisi and graduated in Economics from the University of Perugia.
Her career in hospitality began straight away when she started working for Subway’s headquarters, a fast food chain in the United States.
She then started as Marketing Manager and right-hand woman of the CEO in Best Western Italia.
The transition to Amadeus, Global Distribution System, represented an important step in Giovanna’s curriculum: the experience in this multinational proved to be a springboard and the chance to consolidate her technological expertise.
Her following job was for Travelonline, the first Italian b2c portal for Tourism.
In 2002 she returned to Amadeus as Marketing Director and in 2004, following the previous and positive experience, Best Western’s President called her back and at only 37 years old she was appointed CEO.
Her first objective as CEO was to guide Best Western’s delicate shift from a hotel group to a structured hotel chain with resources, organization and clear and measurable goals.
In over 10 years under her guidance, the number of affiliated hotels has gone from 105 to 160 hotels, the number of staff has grown from 30 to 70 and multitasking, as only some women can be, she became a mother in 2007
