Kerry C. Gumas is a veteran hospitality, travel and tourism media industry executive with over thirty years’ experience producing successful business events and media throughout the United States, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.
Mr. Gumas led the formation and currently serves as President & Chief Executive Officer of Questex, LLC, a leading international business information company and parent of Questex Hospitality+Travel group, which serves over 2,000,000 industry professionals worldwide through its media, events, information and advisory services. These include the company’s International Hotel Investment Forum (IHIF) Berlin and the related hotel investment conference series of events in North America, Latin America, Middle East, China and Asia/Pacific, the IHIF Global Hotel Investment News, serving over 30,000 hotel investors, owners, operators and professionals daily, worldwide, and Hotel Management, the industry-leading hospitality executive management news and information source. Under his leadership, the company has also launched Destination Develop, a new advisory and information division serving government agencies pursuing inward investment in hospitality and tourism projects and the sovereign wealth funds, institutional and private investors seeking investable opportunities in the industry worldwide. Through its Questex Travel Group, the company also serves leisure, luxury, corporate and group travel buyers and professionals via properties including Travel Agent, Luxury Travel Advisor, International Meetings Review and the Informed Traveler. In addition, the company also owns and operates Travel Agent University, an online site utilized by over 100,000 travel advisors who generate over $400 million in hotel and travel bookings annually and FiveStarAlliance.com, a leading luxury travel booking site serving over 5,000,000 business and consumer travelers.
Previously, Mr. Gumas held senior executive positions as CEO in the U.S. and Regional Managing Director in Europe and Asia at several global media and event companies. He was also the founding Managing Director of Asian Aerospace, Pte. Ltd. where he led the formation and management of the Asia/Pacific region’s largest aviation event, Asian Aerospace (Singapore Airshow) and the effort to fund, develop, construct and manage the Changi International Exhibition Center in Singapore as part of an innovative private-public joint-venture. Earlier in his career, he held positions at the United States Department of Commerce responsible for U.S.-China trade promotion.
Mr. Gumas is a member of the Board and Executive Committees of a number of industry associations and non-profit societies. He received his degree in Political Science and Business Administration from Widener University and currently serves on the University’s School of Hospitality Management Advisory Board.
