Puneet Chhatwal is the Chief Executive Officer of Steigenberger Hotels AG, one of Europe’s leading hotel companies.
Steigenberger Hotels AG encompasses more than 125 hotels which are either operational or at the planning stage in 16 different countries in Europe, the Middle East and Asia. The umbrella brand “Deutsche Hospitality” includes the brands “Steigenberger Hotels and Resorts”, “Jaz in the City”, “IntercityHotel” and three cruise ships which operate in Egypt.
Puneet joined Deutsche Hospitality from The Rezidor Hotel Group in November 2012, where he served since 2007 as the Executive Vice President, Chief Development Officer and as a member of the Executive Committee.
Puneet started his career as a Management Trainee with the India Tourism Development Corporation, continued to study at ESSEC, France, where he earned a Master’s Degree in International Hospitality Management to complement his previous bachelor’s degree from the University of Delhi and his diploma in Food Service and Hotel Management from IHM, Pusa.
In 2012, Puneet Chhatwal also completed the AMP (Advanced Management Program) as well as the AMP Capstone at INSEAD (Paris & Singapore respectively).
He worked in Hotel Consulting and Acquisitions for the The Feuring Group between 1992-1998.
From 1998-2002, he served as the Director of Development for the EMEA region for Carlson Hotels Worldwide, where he pioneered the growth of Carlson’s brands in the region and then transitioned to The Rezidor Hotel Group.
In August 2012, Puneet got the prestigious Carlson Fellowship award.
In 2015, Puneet was named as one of the ‘Top 20 Extraordinary by HSMAI, Europe.
Puneet is a member of the international advisory board of ESSEC IMHI, serves as Honorary President for AAIMHI, the alumni association of IMHI Business School and is also a Fellow of the Institute of Hospitality.
