Partner & Global Head of Hotels & Leisure, CMS
Tom is the Global Head of the Hotels & Leisure Group at CMS, where he is a corporate partner based in London. As such, he specialises in mergers & acquisitions and in particular company and business acquisitions and joint ventures in the hotel sector, for clients such as Accor, Algonquin, CitizenM, Global Holdings, Oaktree Capital, Sankaty Advisers, and a number of private investors. Tom has taken a leading role on a number of high-profile portfolio transactions, including more recently the acquisition of Double Tree By Hilton Tower of London and the Ace Hotel, Shoreditch and the restructuring of a large branded hotel portfolio.
He also advises owners, including a series of single asset disposals, investors, developers and banks extensively on hotel management and franchise agreements across most brands and operators, including Accor, Carlson Rezidor, Choice, easyHotel, Hilton, IHG, Macdonald, Marriott, Morgans, Six Senses, Starwood, Wyndham and many other brands. He has also advised a number of global and niche operators on their standard form management agreements.
He advises banks and other lenders on the corporate and management agreement aspects of hotel acquisition & development financings; refinancings; and restructurings of hotel portfolios.
